Greetings & Salutations

Blog Post No. 1 – March, 22, 2022

KALAMA, Wash. – Hello everybody. Nice to see your shining faces today. Creating content and tracking statistics has been a part of my personal and professional life for as long as I can remember. After spending 20 years in college and professional athletics, I have literally written thousands of pieces of content, from game previews to event recaps to tweets detailing game results to creating stat-driven infographics or social graphics. It all blends together in a content cacophony.
I am just completing a certificate course via Northwestern’s Medill School focused on Content Marketing and Strategy and one of my classmates pointed out that for someone who “allegedly has written tons of content” I had posted exactly zero unique content on my LinkedIn profile. After an urgent call with my therapist, I was able to come to peace with the “allegedly has written tons of content” comment and took it as a call to action.
After doing some additional research (or if you prefer, doing some procrastination before writing post No. 1) I discovered some remarkable statistics.
- Less than one percent of LinkedIn users have posted one (1) article on the platform.
- As of 2021 LinkedIn boasted 774.6 million users worldwide.
- It’s important to write about what you know
- Short and compelling or longform posts seem to prompt the most engagement
- Gonzaga is making its seventh (7th) straight NCAA Sweet 16 appearance – the third longest streak in tournament history
As far as joining the top 1%? Much like Vince Vaughn in Wedding Crashers, I’m psyched. I look forward to sharing more and contributing to this dynamic community.
