Great vs. Good

Great vs. Good
June 8, 2022
Anyone who has ever worked at creating content knows this feeling.
You’ve crafted something – a post, a graphic, a photo, a poll, a video, a .gif
You’re poised to mash the button and doubts creep in like those whispers when you’re the only single person at the family reunion.
👉🏻 Is this post good enough?
👉🏻 Is this going to get my message out and enhance my brand?
👉🏻 Will it resonate with anyone?
👉🏻 Will anybody like this? Bueller… Bueller??
After decades of creating content, my advice is simple:
🎯 Do NOT 🎯 allow the pursuit of creating “great” content prevent you from posting “good” content.
During my career working in college athletics I worked with hundreds of coaches. The one thing they all shared in common was preaching the importance of making “winning plays”. During the course of a game there are dozens of plays that lead to winning. Only a handful of these will ever be highlighted on Sports Center.
Devote your energy to creating quality content, but recognize it does not have to be perfect to engage and resonate with your audience. Our team spent hours working on sizzle reels featuring athletic people doing athletic things and sometimes it didn’t resonate nearly as much as posting:
“These uniforms are 🔥🚒🔥” with a photo of, well, 🔥🚒🔥 uniforms.
“Don’t think; it can only hurt the ball club.”
