WRITE THIS WAY
Hello and welcome to the latest episode of Thankful Thursday. I just searched my home office from top to bottom for classified docs and am relieved to report that so far: nada.
THANKFUL FOR THIS
Over the last week or so I have seen a lot of suggested content on the internet suggesting I might be interested in a wide range of products and services. I’ve seen everything from “Elderly Dating” sites (ouch… really and truly… ouch)… podcasts featuring shouty guys in grandma’s basement to an endless array of tile and grout cleaner. But one story broke through and reminded me of one of the best things I saw during the darkest days of the pandemic.
Dr. Myron Rolle was a Florida State football star who took a rather non-traditional path to the NFL. Before playing for Tennessee Titans and the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Bahamian-born safety attended Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. Rolle was cut after three seasons, but immediately focused on going to medical school, eventually graduating from Harvard and completing his residency as a neurosurgeon. When the pandemic hit in 2020, Rolle served on the frontlines treating patients in grueling 24-hour shifts. Rolle recently released a book called The 2% Way detailing how to break up daunting goals into manageable tasks.
THANKFUL FOR THIS, TOO
Former NFL running back Peyton Tillis was just taken off the ventilator (Jan. 12) and continues the slow road to recovery. Tillis rescued his kids from drowning Jan. 5 at Pensacola Beach, nearly sacrificing his own life in the process. Tillis suffered injuries to his lungs and kidneys.

Batman premiered in 1969. I remember watching reruns with my mom and this show always made me laugh when I was home sick from school. A tour de force in Boom! Zap! Zowie! & Pow! → MORE

One of the many highlights of this amazing show was the occasional irrelevant window cameos featuring people like Sammy Davis Jr and Bruce Lee.

WHAT I WATCHED
For reasons that still remain a bit unclear, I binged the entire series of “Welcome to Wrexham” in about three days. Two American actors buy a Welsh football club… what could possibly go wrong? As it turns out, this is a remarkable story about a team deeply woven into the fabric and fiber of its community and Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds raise the standard to bring winning football back to a starved-for-success town. The entire series is streaming on Hulu.
