Top-5 Mac Musings Debuts
Top-5 Mac Musings Debuts
July 24, 2025
For as long as I can remember, I have loved making lists. Nick Hornby’s novel “High Fidelity” (later a movie starring John Cusack) featured a struggling record store owner who was obsessed with top-five lists ranking best albums, b-sides, performers, bootleg albums and on and on and on.
I blame David Letterman as well with his Top-10 lists.
I am currently battling a certain case of writer’s block, so I am going to commit to compiling a list of five things I am thinking about, random trivia and just generally building stronger writing habits. There will likely be bonus categories and assorted mind dumps.
My goal is to drop five of these per week.
You’re welcome in advance. Truly.
Important Follow-Up Questions (suggested by my therapist… probably):
Is this a low effort way to produce content? Yes.
Am I going to agonize over it? No.
Am I going to apologize for doing something that will create low-effort content? Also, no.
Since this is my debut list, I am going to stretch first before pulling a muscle, so I will be giving you five thoughts on the content I have written so far in this piece.

Top-5 Mac Musings – July 24, 2025
- High Fidelity is one of the rare cases where a compelling argument can be made that the book or the movie was better. Possibly the last truly great role John Cusack turned in and just a phenomenal work by Hornby.
- Woke up to news that Hulk Hogan passed away less than 48 hours removed from Ozzy Osbourne. I am gathering thoughts on this and hope to drop a post on this during the weekend.
- It is nearly impossible to describe to the current generation (just typing that start of a sentence makes me feel about 85-years old) what a cultural phenomenon MTV’s Meet the Osbournes was. I have this mental image of Ozzy shuffling around the kitchen mumbling about needing burritos in between shouting out “Sharon!!” at the top of his lungs which will haunt (?) me forever.
- If death truly “comes in threes”, who would be the most serendipitous third leg of the DOA stool? After about 15 seconds of reflection I have decided Ted “Cancun” Cruz is the best choice.1
- I have been watching random episodes of “Band of Brothers” over the last couple days. This could be the best limited series ever produced. I read Stephen Ambrose’s book which provided the inspiration for the series when I was in college and I’ve had a dog-eared copy on my bookshelf ever since.

Footnotes
1 Why? Because, as always, Ted Cruz is a DICK!
2 Note: I am prepared to die on this hill.
