MONDAY, MONDAY (UGH)

Top-5 Mac Musings – August 11, 2025
MONDAY, MONDAY
One of the main reasons I have struggled with Mondays may be Jim Davis’ fault. His iconic Garfield comic strip was notorious for its dread for Monday. Going to school in the 80s, the posters were everywhere with “I Hate Mondays” emblazoned on them in huge type with Garfield still slumbering.
To be clear, I needed very little encouragement to dislike Mondays in theory and in practice. I have never been a morning person. My mom would bounce in the room like a golden retriever after drinking four Red Bulls every school day as I recoiled in horror.
It never got easier. In college I set three alarms and one of them was across the room forcing me to get up and turn it off. I may or may not have thrown shoes at it. Also, as an explainer: before cell phones when dinosaurs roamed the earth there were clock radio alarms that were used to wake people up. It was just like your iphone alarm except completely different.
It’s an easy enough pill to swallow. The first official day of the work week after a weekend of not being at work can be a shock to the system.
In a past life working in college athletics, Monday was even more of a challenge at times – especially during the fall and spring sports calendar. There is nothing quite like working home matches – volleyball, soccer, etc. Thursday through Sunday nights and then be expected back in the office bright and early Monday morning to “start” the week.
And let’s be honest… every office has that one person who is way, way too perky in the mornings in general and Monday mornings in particular. There is also another diabolical creature lurking in many offices… the “Is someone having a case of the Monday’s?” or the “Monday… amirite??” person.
Nothing engages my inner Samuel L Jackson as reliably as these… people?
I guess the big message here is simple: Never underestimate the power of a pasta-loving, orange cartoon cat’s massive influence.
You’re right… time for a list.

- With the upcoming meeting between Putin and Trump in Alaska, former governor Sarah Palin will finally… finally be able to see Russia from her front door.
- Former adult star Lisa Ann, who spoofed Palin in what I’m told is a classic porn parody “Who’s Nailin’ Palin” is a far better, more coherent media personality hosting multiple podcasts featuring everything from celebrity interviews to life experiences to fantasy football advice.
Against the advice of HR, we’re going with the following bonus Top-5… Best Porn Parody movie titles, moderately safe for work edition…
